Accessschoolsdirect.ie is an educational website which has been set up by two teachers, Finian O’Connor and Declan Sheerin.

Our key objective is to facilitate better outcomes for all in post primary schools, especially students and teachers. We aim to do this by creating a platform to connect external educational facilitators and support services directly with teachers.

Teachers now have a one stop site to access what they need for their students, their schools and themselves. Meanwhile educational services, support services and service providers can profile and project what they offer directly to teachers and schools.

We have seen the need for this for some time. We have worked together for the past twenty years in Ashbourne Community School. We have seen how teachers enlighten and enrich the educational and life experiences of young people. However, in recent years especially we have both witnessed and experienced the increased pressures on both teachers and students. There is more change, increased administration, less time and sometimes overwhelming demands. Outside/external facilitators meanwhile are more and more frustrated in attempting to access schools and teachers in particular to make them aware of the educational services and supports they offer.

Because of all of this there is wasted time, poor use of resources and, above all, lost opportunities.

Accessschoolsdirect.ie provides a solution to these problems and with the additional features such as educational blogs, teacher feedback and advice line, we want this to be a real and practical educational website.

We come to this as teachers but also as parents who wish to help create better opportunities and outcomes for all involved in the school community both inside and outside the classroom.
