Age Action works to improve the quality of life for all older people in Ireland, especially the most disadvantaged and vulnerable.
The number of older people in Ireland is growing, and many face difficulties such as poverty, lack of support to grow old at home, loneliness, age discrimination and inadequate access to community care, health services and transport.
Age Action addresses these problems and empowers older people to live full, independent and happy lives.
Our services include Information and Advocacy Services, Care and Repair Service, Getting Started Programme, University of the Third Age (U3A) and Lifelong Learning.
Every day people of different ages socialise, work and engage with each other in ‘intergenerational’ projects. Lifelong Learning supports these projects. Second level schools are ideal places for this to grow!
We are also expanding our Getting Started Programme where students are equipped to train older people to improve their lives through enhanced computer literacy.
We also offer a range of volunteering and work experience opportunities, information talks and workshops and a range of fun, flexible fundraising activities that are vital to allow us to continue our work with older people.
