Contemporary society places immense pressure on young people to fit in and conform to the standards enforced by social media and celebrity culture. It is essential that young people have the resilience to withstand the constant influence of peer pressure, images in the media, and the expectations of others, and develop well-rounded self-confidence and the ability to manage their own mental health effectively. Using a combination of Mindfulness, Neuro-Linguistic Programming and Confidence Building Techniques students and teachers can become more self-aware, develop better confidence and a greater sense of self-worth.
Elfreda Manahan-Vaughan has over 20 years’ experience working at Primary, Secondary and in Further Education in the areas of Communications, Performance, Presentation Skills, Confidence Building and Personal Development and more recently Mindfulness. She delivers workshops and courses to Second Level students in Confidence, Public Speaking, Mindfulness and Personal Development as well as delivering training to parents and teachers to help them when they engage with young people. You can request a specific programme or have one tailor-made for your school and you can find more information in the Education/Schools section of her website. Self-confidence is not just an outward behavior it is a feeling and one we can all experience.
